Son Jae-Hwan
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the moderating effect of career decision making self-efficacy on the relationship between career compromise and career stress of Korean university students. To this end, levels of career compromise, career stress, and career decision making self-efficacy in 228 Korean university students were assessed. Baron and Kenny¡¯s moderating test procedure was used and multiple regression analysis through the stepwise selection method was conducted. Results revealed a significant positive relationship between career compromise and career stress and a significant negative relationship between career decision making self-efficacy and career stress. Career decision making self-efficacy had a moderating effect on the relationship between career compromise and career stress. In addition, higher levels of career compromise correlated with a decrease in career stress differences between groups. Implications, limitations and considerable recommendations for career counselors are discussed.
